Renewable Heat Incentive
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is the world’s first long-term financial support programme for renewable heat.
Funded by the UK Government department DECC and administered by the energy regulator Ofgem, RHI provides financial incentives for renewable heat producers, including biomethane producers.
For the non-domestic sector, RHI provides a guaranteed subsidy, payable for 20 years, to eligible producers. The RHI tariffs are regularly analysed against latest market developments by DECC, to ensure the RHI funds are obtained and utilised to maximum benefit for the Tax Payers. The latest figures can be found on the Ofgem Website.
Government support for biomethane projects, through RHI, is designed to promote confidence among producers, and stimulate the market in this exciting fuel for the future.
